تحدي مناظرة الأعمال
Business Debate Challenge
Teams argue an assigned side of a real Iraqi business case. Judges score every speaker, and the best ten meet in the final.
Practice, not a lecture
One evening of building a business case by hand, under time, in front of people who will tell you how strong it was.
Each team is told which side to argue. Arguing a side is a skill, not a belief, so nobody has to defend their own opinion.
Judges score every speaker and every team. A strong person on a weaker team still reaches the final.
Business 360 alumni play alongside people meeting BBD for the first time, owners and managers from different sectors.
How the night runs
- Welcome and a fast icebreaker
Short rotating pairs, so you know faces before the teams are named.
- Teams and rules
Teams are announced, the judges introduced, and each team learns the side it argues.
- The case and your preparation
Each team builds its business case from the company's numbers and limits.
- Round one, every debate at once
Six debates in parallel, one judge each. Ten turns, five duels, five roles.
- The final
The best ten speakers form two new teams and argue a fresh case in front of the whole room.
- Winners, then open networking
Results, a group photo, and time with the people you argued with and against.
How you are judged
Every speaker is scored from 1 to 10, and so is every team. Judges are business owners and experts from outside BBD, and they follow four rules.
- There is no right side
The score is for the strength of the argument: clear, organised, logical and answering the other side.
- Questioning evidence is an argument
Asking who was asked, how many and when counts in your favour. Every piece of evidence has limits.
- The size of the ask, not the promise
What counts is the return against what is asked for. The bigger number is not the stronger case.
- Face the other side's best point
A team that admits the limits of its proposal and answers them is making a business case, not an advertisement.
From the judges' guide, in Arabic.
Cases written for the night
Each case is an Iraqi company facing one decision, with its numbers, its limits and what its management expects.
- A shared brief both teams read, and a private brief for each side.
- Real-looking figures that reconcile, so the arithmetic is part of the argument.
- A fresh case for the final, unseen by either team.
Marketing or sales? A case from the first challenge.
